Zazai Owens
Zazai Owens is an accomplished educator with 22 years of teaching experience and has worked concurrently in a hospital setting for 29 years. Currently Zazai is in the final year of the Generalist MPH program. Zazai has consistently demonstrated leadership and dedication to the academic and healthcare fields. She served as the Generalist representative with HCSGA for both cohorts 2 and 3 last academic year, advocating for student needs and helping to enhance the program’s structure. This year, Zazai is taking on the role of Vice President of Finance, in hopes to plan thoughtful, fun, and innovative events that students will want to participate in. In addition to excelling in academics and leadership, Zazai holds the presidency of three student organizations at Harvard, including the Harvard Part-Time Student Collective, Harvard Students of Color, and the Harvard Health Disparities Journal Club. Each organization has provided opportunities to promote equity, inclusion, and community engagement among students. As a premedical student, Zazai plans to apply to medical school in the Spring of 2025, combining a passion for healthcare with extensive experience in both educational and clinical environments. Zazai’s commitment to education runs in the family, as her son is also pursuing his second master’s degree at Harvard Business School. This dedication to lifelong learning and leadership has defined Zazai’s career. Her goal as VP of Finance is to create and execute a year-long Harvard Patagonia store, and advocate for permanent email addresses for graduating students. Zazai wants to stay connected to Harvard post-graduation.
