International Students Advocate
Roka Kakehi
Roka Kakehi is a first-year Master student in the SM80 Epidemiology program with Nutritional Epidemiology concentration. She was born and raised in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan. She spent two years of high school at an international high school in Costa Rica (United World College). There, she lived and learned with students coming from over 70 countries. In this racially and economically diverse environment, she learned to value every person regardless of their race, gender, and nationality. Before coming to Harvard T.H. Chan, Roka completed her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Nutrition from University of Pennsylvania. As the International Students Advocate, she hopes to help all international students at Chan feel more welcomed and comfortable on campus.
