Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advocate
Serina Cabrera
Serina Cabrera is a second-year Master of Science (SM-80) Student in Epidemiology with a Cardiovascular concentration. As a Donald Hopkins Pre-Doctoral Scholar, SM-80 First-Generation Mentor, Marketing/PR Chair of the Latin American Student Association at Harvard Chan, EDI Fellow, and active member of the Harvard Chan Orientation Student Team, she is deeply committed to fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment at Harvard Chan. Her experiences as a Mexican-American first-generation student, coupled with roles in mentoring and leadership, have shaped her dedication to ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Before Harvard Chan, Serina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Statistics with a minor in Biology from Sonoma State University (SSU). At SSU, she was involved in many extracurriculars, including being President of her sorority, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc., and received the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees’ Award—the highest recognition a CSU student can receive—as well as Special Congressional Recognition for her community service, research, and graduation in 2023. She looks forward to holding her new role as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocate and working to create initiatives that promote equity and belonging for all students.
